Late Prince Naif 1st Global Personality To Receive UN Award of Excellent Donor

    The Advisor to the Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of Saudi Committee for the Relief of the Palestinian people, Dr. Saed Al-Orabi Al-Harthi, said that the granting of the Award of Excellent Donor from the United Nations Programme for Human Settlements to the name of Late Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (May Allah Almighty bestow mercy upon his soul) is an initiative reflecting the international appreciation for the Kingdom's relief and humanitarian efforts under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

In a statement following his attendance of the handing over ceremony of the award at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Friday to Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mua'lemi, Dr. Al-Harithi said that the award also reflects the appreciation from the United Nations to the pioneering efforts of Late Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz in relief works and his roles in strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom's relief committees and the United Nations humanitarian organizations, particularly the Saudi Committee for the Relief of the Palestinian people, which has provided many relief assistance programs for the Palestinian people to meet their essential needs in light of what they suffer from critical humanitarian conditions.

He noted that the Late Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz is the first global personality to gain this prestigious award.

For his part, Ambassador Al-Mua'lemi expressed in a speech at the ceremony his pride in receiving the award granted to the Prince's name for his roles and personal investment in support of Human Settlements Programme for the Palestinian people implemented by the United Nations Programme for Human Settlements.
